Raise or Rise?

 Raise or Rise

Both ‘raise’ and ‘rise’ are used to talk about something moving upwards.
We use 'rise' to talk about something moving upwards by itself.
‘I watched the balloon rise up into the sky.’

It also describes the act of standing up, or getting out of bed.
‘I rise each morning at 6am.’

The past tense is ‘rose’.
‘She rose from her chair and poured another drink.’

In contrast, the word 'raise' is only used with a direct object. Someone, or something, must 'raise' something.
‘They have raised their prices every year.’ [Their prices is the object].
‘He often raises his voice when he is angry.’ [His voice is the object].
